About Us

Luso África Sports & Cultural Association

Our Story

Luso África Sports & Cultural Association was founded on August 15, 1999, through the historic merger of Victoria FC and Inter Primrose, two long-standing Portuguese community clubs. This union marked a turning point, bringing together passionate leaders and members to create a stronger, united club for the community.

The journey began when Victoria FC, known for its commitment to unity, sought to establish a larger club instead of small, isolated groups. Despite initial challenges, the club successfully acquired Hatting Park, thanks to the dedication of key figures: Jáime Margarido, Manuel Correia, Hernani Peneda, and Zeca Marques.

A defining moment came when Inter Primrose, led by Tony Ferreira Lemos, extended a hand in peace, ending years of rivalry and proposing a merger. After careful discussions, the two clubs united under the name Luso África Sports Club, later expanded to include “Cultural Association” to honour the legacy of the Associação da Colónia Portuguesa (A.C.P.).

Growth & Community Impact

Over the years, Luso África has grown into a pillar of the Portuguese and African community, welcoming members from diverse backgrounds. The club has expanded beyond soccer, embracing cycling, theatre, and cultural initiatives.

In 2007, Luso África strengthened its community role by welcoming the S. Jorge Scouts, providing them with land to establish their base. While not officially part of the club’s merger, the Scouts remain an integral part of the Luso África family.
